Illumination Educational Software was founded in 2002 by Dr Tina Read and Bob Read. We aim to engage people in ethical issues in genetics and biotechnology through our online resource Gene Journey which includes a video clip library with scientists and people affected by genetic conditions, as well as the voting software Voters' Views. People from different countries vote initially using Voters' Views, watch video clips relevant to the topic for debate from Gene Journey and then debate using Skype. The final vote records how their opinions have changed over the course of the session. The format enables people to understand these important issues from a global perspective.
