Focusing on public engagement, professional training, and health services research, Nowgen, part of the NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre, addresses the challenges presented by the introduction of new technologies into healthcare. We work to identify existing perceptions, assess information needs and develop appropriate resources for professionals, patients and the public. This includes training courses on a wide range of topics including: ethical and social aspects of genetic research, pharmacogenetics, cancer, molecular biology, next generation sequencing and bioinformatics.
