Who are N8?

Who are N8?

N8 is an innovative partnership between the North's eight most research-intensive universities, which was set up to bridge the gap between the academic excellence in the North and regional industry. It is one of five technology centres (regenerative medicine, water, energy, molecular engineering and aging) created by the Northern Way Initiative.

A grant of £2 million of Northern Way Initiative funding was given to regeNer8 to underpin research and devlopment. Within the N8 universities (Durham, Lancaster, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield, and York) there are over 150 post-doctoral scientists with research expertise extending across stem cell biology, materials science, bio-processing and tissue engineering. In addition to basic research excellence, the N8 has a track record in forming commercial partnerships and taking ideas through from concept into clinic.
